Respecting your Privacy – JHSD Privacy Policy

This policy is to tell you what you need to know about how Journey Into the Heart of Sikh Dharma uses private information you share with us.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

When you complete our contact form or email us at info [at] jhsd [dot] org or matamandirk [at] gmail [dot] com, or complete a registration form to become a student of a JHSD course, your name, phone, email address, and any other information you provide to us are kept private and confidential by us and used only for the purpose for which you have contacted us. We also may use your email to contact you in future about upcoming JHSD courses. We do not share, sell, or rent your information to any other entity.

On our website we only collect personally identifiable information from you when you provide it to us voluntarily and knowingly. This may include your name, email and physical addresses, zip/postal code, and so on. This means we do not require you to provide any information or to register in order to view our site.

As with most other Internet sites, our web server automatically recognizes the domain name of each visitor to the site, but not the email address. This tells us which domain you visited from (e.g.,,, other), but nothing more.

We use the internet service MailChimp to send out bulk emails to everyone who has given us their email in order to receive information about JHSD. This means we upload our mailing list to their online service. If at any time you wish to be unsubscribed from mailings you might receive from us, please use the “unsubscribe” link that appears in all our bulk emails. You can also read MailChimp’s privacy policy here. If you receive a personally-based email from either info [at] jhsd [dot] org or matamandirk [at] gmail [dot] com, and wish to stop communications from us, please reply to the email with UNSUBSCRIBE in the subject line.

Personal Information and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a European Union regulation concerning the use and processing of personal information of citizens of European Union member countries. GDPR is effective as of May 25, 2018. We are committed to processing your information in compliance with the GDPR, as applicable.

If you have provided us your personally identifiable information via contact form, registration form, or email, you can request to receive an exported file of that personal data. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. However, this does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Protecting Credit Card Information

Because we collect fees for the Journey into the Heart of Sikh Dharma course via a third-party provider, PayPal, we do not view, collect, nor save, or have any access at all to your credit card or bank information. As a trusted provider, you are authorizing PayPal to access your credit card and/or bank information, and to forward us the funds you pay, as per their policies and procedures, and to keep your information safe in their data banks. PayPal’s privacy policy can be seen here.

If you choose to contact us directly to set up a payment plan and provide credit card or bank information to process such a plan, we use that information only in processing the funds as agreed upon in the plan. After the payments are complete, we destroy the credit card or bank information and do not store nor keep it in our records.
